Jeanne Jirik
Chef Instructor

Chef Jeanne Jirik joined the Florida Campus as a chef instructor in the College of Culinary Arts in 2005 after teaching at the Charleston Campus for two years. While at Charleston, she was presented with the First Year Teacher Award. Before becoming an instructor, Chef Jirik held a number of impressive professional positions. She was the owner of Inlet Epicurean Catering & Personal Chef Services and a chef at TOMKATS Movie Catering. She received film credits for food service on the film “A Beautiful Mind” and the HBO series “Sex & the City.” She also appeared on the Food Network show “After Midnight” and several segments of “Food-4-Thought” for WCIV-TV 4. Chef Jirik was a featured caterer in the March/April issue of Grand Stand Magazine.
Chef Jirik is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University with an associate degree in culinary arts and a bachelor’s degree in food service management. She teaches Essentials of Dining Room Service and Traditional European Cuisine. She is a Certified Culinary Instructor by the Food Service Educators Network International (FENI) and a Certified T.I.P.S. trainer. Industry memberships include Foodservice Educators Network International, United States Sommelier Association and Les Dames d’ Escoffier. |

Jean-Pierre “JP” MIQUEL has been a leader in the Duty Free industry for almost 20 years. He is currently Chairman of Starboard Cruise Services a division of Louis Vuitton-Moet Hennessy. A native of Toulouse France, JP came to the US in 1958. He has earned a bachelor degree in hospitality from the Hotel college of Toulouse, a BBA, an MBA and a Post-Graduate certificate in business management from the University of Brussels. Over the years he has served on the boards of companies in France, Japan, Belgium, Germany, Grand Cayman and the U.S. JP is a past president of the Miami Fort Lauderdale French American Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as “Conseiller du commerce Exterieur de la France” in addition to his role as Chairman of the American Red Cross, Greater Miami & The Keys. |

Jen Karetnick

South Florida-based writer Jen Karetnickwas the restaurant critic and columnist for the metropolitan weeklies Miami New Times and New Times Broward/Palm Beach from 1992-2004. Her byline has appeared in various national publications, including The New York Times, The Miami Herald, Ocean Drive, Women's Health & Fitness, Florida Travel & Life, Diversion, Continental In-Flight, Chile Pepper, Chow and Fodor's Miami and Florida guidebooks. The author of Around Miami with Kids (Random House, 2000), Jen is co-author of Raw Food/Real World: 100 Recipes to Get the Glow (ReganBooks, 2005) and editor of Hungry? Thirsty? Miami (Glove Box Guides, 2007). She works as the features editor for Wine News; food editor for So.Florida; travel columnist for Social Miami.com; and dining contributor for Living Real Miami, Las Olas Magazine and Gayot.com. |

Terry Zarikian
Food Critic / Author / Restaurant Executive
Terry opened L’Alouette Restaurant in Bal Harbor in the fall of 1983. Rated 3 ½ stars ( out of 4) by the Miami Herald by Restaurant Critic, Linda Cicero, L’Alouette was considered the best restaurant in Miami. He later served as Director of Product Development for the legendary supper Club Regines, where he was ultimately responsible for consulting on food and beverage outlets for 60 hotels and for the creation of new food concepts in their hotels. In 1987, he assisted in the development and opening of Doc Dammers and the Aragon Café, both at The Colonnade Hotel in Coral Gables. Later In 1997 Zarikian joined forces with Jeffrey Chodorow of China Grill Management as restaurant consultant and regional director of public relations This relationship continued to foster leading to his appointment of Director of Product Development for CGM properties worldwide in May, 2006. Terry has also been the Culinary Advisor in the USA for the Basque Country’s Province of Bizkaia ( the Bilbao area) and has consulted for Olive Oil from Andalusia, Spain., He currently serves as the Food Editor of Selecta Magazine (since 1988) and the Culinary Director of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival. As a writer, his focus is travel, restaurants, food and wine. He has free-lanced for Miami Mensual, Vogue Hombre, Florida Home & Garden Magazine and Boca Raton Magazine. In 1995 he co-edited the South Florida Edition of the Zagat Survey with restaurant writer, Bob Hosmon. |

Patrick Sullivan
Director, Enlighten Wine & Spirits Education
Patrick has spent a number of years in the retail and wholesale segments of the wine and liquor industry. He has selected wines for, and composed wine lists for some of the top restaurants in South Florida. He conducts staff training for bars, restaurants and wine boutiques in Florida, Puerto Rico, and Texas. He has been involved in wine and spirits training since 1990, and has hosted more that 150 multi-course wine-and-food-paired dinners. As managing partner of Cork & Bottle, opened in 2001, Patrick’s approach to its design and operation garnered the MiamiNew Times award “Best Wine/Liquor Store in Miami” during its first year of operation. Patrick is currently a Director with Enlighten Wine & Spirits Education, wine consultant for International Boutique Wines and Finest Wines International, and Instructor/Consumer Educator for Southern Wine & Spirits’ inVision Marketing Program. He is also Past President of The International Wine & Food Society and Chevalier of the Chaine des Rotisseurs’ Ordre Mondial.
